I'm not sure. I haven't heard any pearl jam for a long time.
Should I give it a listen?

It IS a great song. Maybe this will help with understanding it.
Here's the lyrics.

Unsealed
On a porch a letter sat
Then you said ’i wanna leave it again’
Once I saw her on a beach of weathered sand
And on the sand I wanna leave it again... yeah
On a weekend I wanna wish it all away yeah...
And they called and I said that I want what I said
And then I call out again
And the reason oughta leave her calm I know
I said ’i don’t know whether
I’m the boxer or the bag’
Ah yeah ehh....
Can you see them
Out on the porch
But they don’t wave
I see them round the front way yeah
And I know I don’t want to stay...

Make me cry <guitar solo>

Ooooh I see
I don’t know there’s something else
I wanna drum it all away
Oh I said I don’t, I don’t know whether I’m a boxer or the bag
Ah yeah ehh....
Can you see them
Out on the porch
But they don’t wave
I see them round the front way yeah
And I know I don’t want to stay
I don’t wanna stay (2x)
Don’t
Don’t wanna
Oh... yeah... oooh...

Although I have to admit the lyrics don't make much sense either do they? :P

that might be the recorded version, but they do it at the end of every concert and they change most of the lyrics, no one knows what it is about but thats what they do!

I think it's about this girl ending it with him and how he sees her with another guy and figures out it's over and isn't that good with it.
The music vaguely reminds me in the strangest way of Hendrix of all people.

Have you ever tried to figure out what they are singing in Louie Louie by the Kingsmen? :P

Both really. It's sorta based on this sailor who misses his girlfriend on another Island but there are no real lyrics that make any sense.
They called in the FBI about them in 1965 because the conservatives were sure the lyrics had subliminal filthy sex in them but it was sorta left undecided. Lot's of mumbled lyrics always sound dirty, don't they?

Please! I'm very proud of my dirty mind.
It allows me to find humor in life and lends itself to some very interesting imagery. :P 8)

Sheesh carp you know I don't do drugs!
I've decided The Dandy Warhols is one of my favorite groups. I'm addicted to Alice in Chains now as well.

I'm glad that you like the Dandy Warhols. The Veronica Mars tv show that uses the We Used to Be Friends song as its theme is one of my favorite tv shows.

My favorite Alice In chains song is No Excuses.
