The Welcome Mat

My Monday softball team has started 4-0 for the first time in a long while. We've won 15-10, 10-9, 22-19 and 24-17 so far. Decent weather and lots of fun (plus lots of stiffness the next day).

Also, less than one month left in the school year. I'm definitely ready.

Congrats! I dont get to stop working for the summer

School got out on June 17th, but I went in to school four days last week for curriculum work. I'm glad that is over with.

I drove to Niagara Falls, Canada yesterday and went on the Hornblower cruise to the falls last night. I visited three other attractions today and then walked across the bridge to Niagara Falls, New York and spent the afternoon there. Not as much to do as in Canada, but okay. I'm going back downtown in a bit for a concert and fireworks tonight at one of the parks. It is Canada Day so there are a few extra things going on. I'll be going on to Buffalo and Cleveland before returning home next week.

I was thinking of ideas for my usual summer trip and I thought of Niagara Falls, which I hadn't been to since I was 7 years old. I figured I might as well make a circuit around Lake Erie and visit Buffalo (plus a side trip to Rochester) along the way. My mom was spending a week in New York during my trip so I visited her on July 4th. I went to the Tigers/Indians game tonight, but it was a blowout for the Indians so that part kind of sucked. I've also visited a bunch of comic stores along the way in addition to doing touristy stuff and I've purchased a fair amount of comics.

How many comics did you buy? I just sat around this weekend, I seem to be doing that a lot...

I think I bought around 130 comics during the trip - almost enough to fill up a magazine box. The oldest ones were Walt Disney Comics and Stories #12 and #29 from the early 1940s.

I'm making my annual effort to get caught up on comic book reading. I finished the Superman titles that have stacked up since October and am working my way through the Bat books now. After that it will be the other DC books and then other publishers. I made some progress back in April, but fell behind again over the past couple of months. I'm hoping to be caught up by the end of the month if not sooner.

I am in Chicago this weekend for the Comic Con. The first day went well and I picked up a number of nice books. We have softball playoffs on Monday to finish our season. We were 18-4 in the regular season.

How was the con? congrats! I had mon and tues of didnt do anything....

The con was a lot of fun. I found tons of comics at reasonable prices. I think I ended up buying around 500 comics with the majority of them being Dells from the 1950s.

My softball team won the championship and finished the season with a 21-4 record. I've got to return to school on Tuesday. Unfortunate, but that's life.
