Ice Princess - 6/10 - I don't think Michelle Trachtenberg was totally convincing as a skater or scholar, but the movie was a fun bit of fluff.

Adam has his 365 movies in 365 days thread over on VA. I had 7 movies in January and 10 in February plus 2 so far in March. I think I've fallen a bit behind the pace.

Is the movie based on actual historical events, or is it mostly made up?

The movie is an adaptation of the graphic novel 300 by Frank Miller. The graphic novel itself is a loose depiction of the Battle of Thermopylae, which was an actual battle from around 2500 years ago.

I looked at wikipedia and it said an army of 700 Thespian volunteers and the 300 Spartans vs. the Persians.

That's okay for a non kung-fu movie, but what's the whole story line for the movie?

300 - 7.5/10 - The story of King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans battling against the legions of Xerxes. I've had people I know tell me that this is the best movie they've seen in years so I went in with high expectations. It was kind of slow going, though. I liked the movie and the cinematography was excellent, but I was expecting more.

Gridiron Gang - 7.5/10 - I though this was a nice movie about a juvenile prison that starts a football program to try and motivate juveniles to improve their situation and get out of the gang life. They had to cut a few corners storywise to make it fit, but it was pretty entertaining.
