NO we don't do those around here at all. It's kind of hard to do a clique with only6 or 7 regular posters... 8)

What kind of comics do you get? Do you go to a local comic shop or through the mail?

I get mine monthly and my new order should be here some time this week.
We use to get them through the mail when we lived up north but now my husband is buddies with the comic shop owner in town (southern Alberta) so we just go through him.

Titles? Let's see... I've always been a huge fan of the Titans since the 80's (the George Perez days). Big surprise there. We've cut back a lot since the 90's. Lately it's just been:

Fantastic 4
Teen Titans
Spawn (more out of loyalty than anything else)
Flash
Green Lantern
Iron Man
Superman/Batman
Interesting-looking X-men series (not ongoing subscription)

I got a few issues of Lenore and just LOVED that comic so I'm hunting for a trade paperback. I find I'm buying more trade paperbacks these days so I can just read a whole miniseries at once. Lazy me :-)

We generally pick up whatever interests us. We being me and my husband Richard. He thinks I'm nuts for spending so much time slaying dragons, btw
our not allowed in my clique...
But... but... I like it here, PC.

Now I feel like I'm crashing a party.

Cool.

Nice map :-)

We live in Lethbridge which is only about an hour above the Montanna border.

Coulee's are... wavy/bumpy hills that are on either side of a river or valley. I work beside one of those tall buildings waaay in the background.

Image

Hoo-doos are rock formations that stick up out of the earth.

It's actually quite arid down here - it's dry and there's not a lot of rain or snow.

And... je ne parle pas la francais. Je parle l'anglais. Since Canada has two official languages, lots of us redneck westerners do know a bit of french. I took it in school until I graduated so je comprende un peu.

And this is definitely cowboy country!

you can use the google language tools but it still doesnt make sense to me

Les jours de pluie
Mes jouets sont vivants
Les grands ont des griffes
Comme des bouts de ciment
Comment leur dire
Quand ont a que seize ans
Le lit qu'on défait, n'a plus
Le goût du zan

A quoi bon
Les vies chiffons
Les mots d'amour
Qui sont trop courts
Moi, j'rêve en grand
Comme l'éléphant
Je rêve immense
Ventre rond
Les yeux profonds
Mon ours dit à quoi bon ?
Son amitié
C'est dur à dire
Dure toute la vie
Alors lui...

Parler tout bas
Trouver les mots qu'il faut
Parler de tout, parler de moi
Pour trouver le repos
Ses bras: la douceur
Il a un coeur à l'intérieur
C'est l'objet de mon coeur
C'est pour lui
Mon poème
Au Monde Inanimé

Les jours de pluie
Mes jouets sont vivants
Les grands ont des rires
Qui vous giflent
En passant

A quoi bon
L'amour qui fond
Moi j'ai un compagnon
Je voudrais dire
Pas pour de rire
Même si c'est con...
Je l'aime, lui

Yup - free translation tools never make much sense - either french to english or english to french.

Plus, Quebec french is different from France french. And northern Alberta french is different from both of those! Each region/country/province seems to have it's own twist on the language.

That's got to be true with every language, because Guatemalen Spanish is different from Mexican Spanish and both of them are different from the Spanish spoken in Spain which has a lisp for any c or z sounds.

Those hoo-doos are wild! They look like granite infusions left over after some serious erosion. I had never heard of Canadian Cowboys but now that I know they exist I think someone should definitely do a funny movie about them!

That's kind of funny because Brad Pitt (and Angelina) are currently hanging out in Edmonton and Calgary (Calgary's an hour away) shooting his new movie - the Assassination of Jesse James :P

Robin Williams spent a few weeks in our city this summer shooting a movie called RV. Brokeback Mountain with Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhal (sp?) was also filmed in and around Lethbridge.

C'mon up for the Calgary Stampede sometime - it's all about cowboys and the rodeo.

I could ask my friend, if you like.

What is it, a song? It looks to me like it could be about a pregnant lady thinking about her unborn child.

That's all I got :-)

its a song by alizee called Parler tout bas

heres the normal translation

Days of rain
My toys are alive
The large ones have claws
Like cement ends
How their statement
When one has that sixteen years
The bed which one demolishes, does not have any more
Taste of the zan
With what good
The lives rags
Words of love
Who are too short,
Me, I dream into large
Like the elephant
I dream immense
Round belly
Deep eyes
Does my bear say what good is it?
Its friendship
It is hard to say
Last all the life
Then him...

To speak low
To find the words which it is necessary
To speak about all, to speak about me
To find the rest
Its arms: softness
It has a heart inside
It is the object of my heart
It is for him
My poem
In The Inanimate World

Days of rain
My toys are alive
The large ones have laughter
Who slap you
While passing

With what good
The love which melts
Me I have a companion
I would like to say
Not for laughter
Even if it is idiot...
I like it, him

I still dont understand what its about
