New IE Beta

Post by Hella »

Did any of you guys try it?

And if so, how bad is it?

I am thinking of installing it on a fresh install of Windows, but I don't want to if it sucks or if I can revert back to the older version.

Im running it, It has tabbed browsing, a zoom feature and a tab priview. It also renders png's properly. It does still have bugs though (and active x is almost not supported in it, which is somewhat of a good thing)

What does that mean for Windows Updates through IE?

I dont think update uses that any more, no matter what you should be moving to service pack 2. Either way update is still working for me

I am running SP2, but I like to look once a week for new updates, and I use IE to look for them since IE's home page is set to the Window's Update page.

Is it at all possible to go back to the older version of IE if I don't like the Beta? I'm guessing I could just do that from this link?

From what ive heard you can, but I havent tried it, im trying to find a program that lets you throw the updates on a disk so they install while installing windows.

I don't know if I like the way the Beta looks. I am going to play around with it for a few days and decide if I like this version as a whole or not.

It took me a bit to get used to it, esp. how they moved the refresh and stop

I hate this new version of IE. I haven't seen the beta yet, but I hope this is overhauled and changed before Vista comes out.

It actually works a bit better when it does work, when you minimize it you get ram back, firefox is capable of doing it but it doesnt come defaulted that way

I'll give IE7 a test run on my old box. I'm still not entirely happy with the layout, but I'll try and deal.
