220 - Back of the Net - 6.5/10 - A girl is supposed to be going on a special science academy semester at sea, but ends up at a soccer academy instead by accident. This isn't a great movie, but it is watchable.

:710:
221 - Torpedo Run - 7/10 - A submarine commander sets out to sink one of the Japanese ships that was involved with the Pearl Harbor attack. It was okay, though a bit seemed a bit lifeless.

222 - Two Girls and a Sailor - 7.5/10 - This was mostly a musical revue with an interconnecting romantic story about two sisters and a sailor. Plenty of humor as well. The music, comedy and story were all entertaining.

223 - On Body and Soul - 7.5/10 - This is a Hungarian film about a man who runs a meat packing firm and a woman who is hired as a temporary quality control inspector while the regular one is on maternity leave. They are each crippled in their own way - him physically in one arm and her socially. They find out that they have been dreaming the same dream and strike up a romance. It is an odd film and I think lets down a bit in the second half, but is still pretty good.

225 - Blood on the Sun - 6.5/10 - James Cagney stars as a newspaper reporter for the Tokyo Chronicle prior to WWII. He discovers a document about Japan's plans for world domination and things get hot for him. It wasn't that great.

:710:
226 - Belle of the Yukon - 7/10 - A musical comedy that takes place during the Canadian Gold Rush. It was very stagey, but okay.

:7510:
227 - Eternally Yours - 7.5/10 - A woman falls in love with a magician and they get married. Things are happy for a while, but she eventually leaves him because of his dangerous stunts and the never ending tour. I thought it was a good movie.

:610:
228 - Klondike Fury - 6/10 - A famous surgeon is disgraced after an operation goes wrong and he is accused of misconduct. He heads to Alaska and the plane crashes, stranding him in a small town during winter where they know nothing of his past. It was a fairly simple film, but watchable.

:710:
229 - Tanks a Million - 7/10 - A short comedy about a railway clerk with a photographic memory who is drafted into the army and quickly gets promoted, much to the chagrin of some of the other soldiers. It was fun.

:7510:
230 - The Kansan - 7.5/10 - A gunfighter is injured stopping a bank robbery while on his way to Oregon. While he is recovering, the crooked man who controls the town has him elected marshal. This ploy eventually backfires on him as the new marshal tries to do his job fairly.

231 - The Dark Command - 8/10 - John Wayne stars as a traveler who arrives in Lawrence, Kansas just before the Civil War along with his sidekick (Gabby Hayes). He becomes enamored with Mary McCloud, the daughter of the local banker, but has a rival in the local schoolteacher, William Cantrell. Roy Rogers plays Mary's brother, Fletch. Cantrell marries Mary, but she eventually finds out that he is secretly the leader of an outlaw gang that has ravaged other towns in the region. War breaks out and the town is divided between Northern and Southern support. Cantrell's gang also becomes more daring. This was a pretty entertaining film.

232 - High Time - 7.5/10 - Bing Crosby plays a 51 year old man named Harvey with two spoiled adult children who has made a lot of money by building a nationwide chain of hamburger restaurants. He decides that it is high time that somebody in his family gets a college education so he enrolls as a freshman at Carolina State. He wants to be treated like any other freshman and ends up in a dorm room with three other young men. This is a lighthearted comedy with a few romantic aspects that I thought was a lot of fun.

234 - The Great McGinty - 7.5/10 - Dan McGinty comes to the attention of a criminal organization when he makes money voting multiple times for a candidate. He moves on to bigger and better paying gigs with the organization, eventually becoming mayor and later governor. He ends up as a bartender in a dive south of the border and tells his tale to a customer. I thought it wasn't bad.

235 - Deadwood: The Movie - 8/10 - It wasn't quite as good as the series, but it was fairly close and served as a good coda for the show. It was nice to see these characters again.

:810:
236 - Hangmen Also Die! - 8/10 - A high ranking Nazi is assassinated in Czechoslovakia during WWII and the Nazis take it out on the local populace to find the killer. This is based on an actual occurrence that led to the destruction of two villages.

237 - Ben - 6/10 - A lonely boy with a heart condition befriends the leader of a group of trained killer rats. Kind of a dumb premise and movie.

238 - Night People - 7.5/10 - An American corporal is kidnapped in West Berlin and taken across the border by the Soviets. They want to trade him for two elderly Germans. A Military Police Colonel is put in charge to try and recover the corporal and a lot of subterfuge occurs. I thought the movie was pretty good.

239 - The Trail of the Lonesome Pine - 7/10 - In the Appalachian mountains at the beginning of the 20th Century, two families are carrying on a generations long feud. The railroad comes through, enriching the families, but not dulling the enmity of some of the members. Others want to move on and educate themselves. It was decent.

:710:
240 - T-Men - 7/10 - Treasury agents are after a gang of counterfeiters so two agents infiltrate a Detroit gang and use that to help infiltrate the counterfeiter gang in California. It was decent.

They end up implanting a fertilized egg in Schwarzenegger and he carries the baby to term. Humor and romance ensue among various cast members. The movie wasn't great, but it was watchable.

244 - Wells Fargo - 7/10 - This covers the founding of Wells Fargo and its expansion into California through the eyes of one of their main agents. It also covers a bit of the strife from the Civil War. I thought it was a decent film.

:910:
245 - Never Look Away - 9/10 - This German film starts in 1940 when a young boy's aunt is taken away due to mental illness. She is sterilized and later gassed by the Nazi regime. The boy grows up to be a painter in East Germany. While in school, he falls in love with a young woman who happens to be the daughter of the doctor who ordered his aunt to be sterilized. The film is inspired by the story of a real German artist and is very well done.
